FAQ
How do I join CyberSoc, and how much is it?
Well, firstly, membership costs $4 for UNSW students, and $5 for
non-UNSW students. You can pay this by either arranging a meeting with
an executive member, or at an event. To contact us about joining, just
mail cybersoc@cse.unsw.edu.au
Whats this registration thing? Will you refuse to let me in if im not not regoed for the event?
The registration system is there to give us (and you) an indication of how many people are coming. And if you give a real email address we can alert you to last minute changes. We are restricted in the choice of room we have so in the future for BYO events we envisage having to enforce an upper limit of 50 people. But until space and power become an issue the rego system is just for fun. Don't hesitate to register though, we like to be able to prepare for the event :)
What games are normally played?
Whatever there is. CyberSoc cannot provide games (too expensive). At BYO events, games played are whatever people bring along. Games we usually see played at our lans include the latest plus the old favourites like Quake3, Warcraft3, Half-Life mods etc. If you have a group of friends who want to play some game, you are welcome. Just bring it along and we'll all have a try.
Can non-UNSW people participate/join?
Yes, people outside of UNSW are welcome to attend events. However, they are
not able to be voting members, nor executive (and CASOC does not provide
funding for them).
Cybersoc is cool, is there any way I can help out?
Yes! Helpers are always welcome, if your interested in helping, email us at
cybersoc@cse.unsw.edu.au and tell
us.
